Gluten Free, Clean Eating Costco Shopping List

costco-tip

Whether you're just starting out on your gluten free journey or have been at it for a while, but want to get rid of all the processed and sugary foods from you diet, it can be a lot to try to adjust to. I try to feed my family as much organic, unprocessed, whole, "clean" food as possible, and gluten free of course for our little girl with celiac disease. So where do you shop? One of my favorite stores is Costco. If there's an option to get what I need locally then that will be my first choice, but if not, then Costco it is. So I'm giving you my shopping list to Costco for things that are not only gluten free, clean eating, and organic, but a good deal too.

Obviously, you can get LOTS of fresh produce at Costco. I sometimes would wonder if we'd ever be able to eat it all before it goes bad, but don't be scared to grab that humungous crate of carrots or grapes. Just take some time to chop the veggies and put them in smaller baggies. Blanching half the veggies and then freezing half the fruits and veggies will mean they won't go bad and you can use them to cook with or make smoothies out of later.

Like these veggies (pictured above) I chopped and drizzled with olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and oregano then baked in a 450 degree oven for 10-15 minutes. Stir about half way through and enjoy with some grilled chicken.

Also, I realize there may be a lot more things that are gluten free available at Costco, but because we try to keep processed foods a minimum, you won't find them on my list. These are things I buy that are not only gluten free, but organic, little to no processing, no added preservatives, nitrates, or other junk.

I love a deal so if you have any more gluten free, clean eating favorites from Costco leave a comment!

Here are some of the things on my Costco shopping list:

I have never bought the Kirkland butter (I try to only buy organic dairy with as few ingredients as possible), however, I'm pretty certain that you won't find any gluten in the "natural flavoring". If it did have it, by law they would have to have wheat in the list of possible allergens under the ingredient list.

Yes, we have used it and have had no problems. However, when it comes to a big grocery store like Costco, it's always best to check labels regularly to be sure it is processed in a facility that is free of wheat. Sometimes their supplier changes, so check often.

Do you know if the Kirkland Organic Unsweetened Almond Beverage Vanilla is GF ? The carton doesn't say that it is, but I don't see any ingredients that may have gluten. Maybe I am missing something because why wouldn't it say "gluten free" next to "dairy free, lactose free, soy free"?
Thanks, Vicki

You're right. There doesn't seem to be anything in the ingredients that would indicate that it isn't gluten free. Not all manufacturers label things as gluten free even when they are. Most of the time when people are looking for a nondairy milk alternative it's because they can't have dairy, lactose, and/or soy. Those are the target words the manufacturer is trying to sell to so those are the ones they put on the carton. Hope that helps!
