I haven’t been able to stop thinking about focaccia bread since my success with my Gluten Free Amaranth Bread. I used to make the yummiest, gluten-ous, herbed focaccia bread ever! So of course I should be able to make it equally as amazing gluten free! Right? A little success sometimes makes me forget that I’ve only been at this gluten free thing for a little over a year.
Consequently, I have these days. Like today, when I look around at the gluten free flours that have settled into a light dusting across the countertops. I look back at the almost gluten free focaccia bread that almost turned out. And despite the fact that we all still eat yet another prototype (just dumped some marinara sauce over top and wasn’t too bad) it’s discouraging to have to clean up the mess after a mess up.
That’s kind of what we do though as moms, as women, as people in general. We make decisions, try our best, sometimes it turns out just as you planned, other times not. So we clean up messes. We put things right again, eat some chocolate, take a deep breath, and keep going (the chocolate is most definitely a necessary part of the process).
That must be why when I read a post by Karina the Gluten-Free Goddess about her reflections on making a decision to move to New Mexico based on her and her husband’s “infatuation” with the desert, I was nodding along in knowing agreement.
Her Georgia O’keeffe vision didn’t turn out the way she planned. The desert “spit them out” and now they’re doing some clean up. It hit home. It was even more poignant since Alex and I have been sucked in by the desert and even though our latest attempt to leave the red rocks of St. George was the longest yet, unlike Karina and her hubby, we’ve found ourselves drawn back into the deep blue skies and the dusty heat.
It may also have been that she shared her gluten free focaccia bread recipe! (coincidence?)
A walk through the red rocks and sagebrush in the spring…you had me at “a walk”. And yes. I haul my babies around on a hike wearing jewelry. Don’t judge.
I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name… No? Not working?
Anyway…that’s why today I’m celebrating someone else’s success and sharing the food love with this amazing looking Gluten-Free Focaccia Recipe with Garlic + Tomato from the Gluten-Free Goddess!
Karina uses a blend of light gluten free flours, lots of herbs, and clean, organic ingredients to make this delicious looking bread! This would go perfect with a bowl full of soup or a big green salad.

Enjoy!
